KUPWARA, J&K 10 August: Residents of three border villages in Keran will now be able to access a range of government and digital services closer to home with the establishment of three new Common Service Centres (CSCs).

The centres have been established in Gram Panchayats Mundiyan-A, Mundiyan and Pathroo as part of efforts to improve last-mile delivery of public services in the remote border area.

Kupwara Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Suse virtually inaugurated the three centres and interacted with the respective Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) operating them.

The newly established CSCs are expected to provide residents access to a range of services, including e-governance and public utility services, social welfare schemes, financial inclusion services, healthcare and agriculture-related services, besides various business-to-consumer (B2C) facilities.

For residents of Keran, where difficult terrain and distance can make access to government offices and digital facilities challenging, the centres are intended to reduce the need to travel long distances for routine services.

The initiative is part of the district administration’s efforts to strengthen last-mile service delivery and take government services closer to communities living in remote and border areas.

The administration said the CSCs will also contribute towards improving access to digital services and reducing the digital divide in these far-flung villages.

The establishment of the three centres is being projected as a step towards the district administration’s objective of “Governance at the Doorstep”, particularly for residents living in geographically difficult and strategically located border areas.
