Jammu, Nov 8: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday delivered the keynote address at the Ghazipur Literature Festival, organized by Bharat Dialogues, which brought together authors, scholars, artists, and policymakers from across the Indian diaspora, including Mauritius, South Africa, Suriname, Fiji, and Norway.
High Commissioner of South Africa to India, Prof. Anil Sooklal, and Rajya Sabha Member Dr. Sangeeta Balwant were among the special invitees at the event.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the remarkable contribution of the Indian diaspora to global progress, emphasizing their dedication, integrity, and commitment to India’s ancient values.
“With hard work, integrity, and adherence to timeless principles, the Indian diaspora has earned global recognition while strengthening international bonds,” Sinha said.
Calling upon writers and thinkers to act as bridges between society and diverse perspectives, the Lt Governor urged them to strengthen the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. He emphasized their responsibility to promote unity and social progress through values of equality, justice, and fraternity.
“Literature and new ideas give strength to society. Without them, a nation may exist physically but will lack the intellectual and cultural tools for transformation,” he remarked. “Knowledge and critical thinking ensure that society remains dynamic—like a flowing river.”
Sinha also outlined ten key resolutions for building a strong and developed India. These include the preservation of knowledge and history, propagation of moral values, promotion of social change, encouragement of innovation and critical thinking, empowerment of youth, and fostering emotional unity and good governance through Jan-Bhagidari (public participation).
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor released the publication “Bhojpuri Kahavaton Ki Duniya” authored by Shri Sanjeev Kumar Gupta.
