Srinagar, Aug 18: Salika Tariq, a young achiever from Trehgam in Kupwara district and a student of Government Boys Degree College, Kupwara, has brought pride to Jammu and Kashmir by becoming the first ever representative from the Union Territory to be selected for the prestigious Global Icon Awards in the category of “National Youth Icon of the Year.”
The selection marks a significant milestone for the young sports personality and recognises her dedication, talent and achievements on a platform of international repute. It is also being seen as a proud moment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the youth of Kupwara.
Salika’s journey reflects determination and perseverance, demonstrating how young women can overcome barriers, pursue their ambitions and aim for greater heights. Her achievements across various fields have made her an inspiration for aspiring youngsters, especially girls from the region.
Speaking about her selection, Salika Tariq said, “I thank almighty allah and then my parents for everything and i am deeply honoured and humbled to be nominated for the Global Icon Awards in the National Youth Icon of the Year category. This recognition is not only a proud moment for me, but also for my family, mentors and the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Global Icon Awards are scheduled to be held at Hyatt Centric Janakpuri, New Delhi, where the prestigious recognition will bring together achievers and personalities from across the country.
