A New Space for Learning, Collaboration and Possibilities Inaugurated at Hajipir Army Goodwill School-Trehgam

Trehgam, Kupwara | 29 September 2026

A new chapter in the educational journey of Hajipir Army Goodwill School-Trehgam began today with the formal inauguration and handover of a newly constructed Conference Hall, supported by IIFL Foundation and implemented by Kamraz Asian Aid International Foundation (KAAIF).

The facility has been created with the vision of providing the school with a dedicated and meaningful space for learning, dialogue, capacity building, collaboration and institutional development—a space where ideas can be exchanged, teachers can learn, students can participate, and the wider school community can come together.

The Conference Hall was inaugurated by the Commanding Officer, 41 Rashtriya Rifles (41 RR) in the presence of Sahil Hamid, AVP–CSR, IIFL Foundation, Azad Naqashbandi, Director, Kamraz Asian Aid International Foundation (KAAIF), and members of the Foundation.

During the ceremony, the newly constructed facility was formally handed over to the school administration. The Conference Hall will provide much-needed infrastructure for teacher-training programmes, workshops, conferences, academic discussions, orientation programmes, cultural and educational activities, capacity-building initiatives and other institutional engagements.

More than an addition to the school’s physical infrastructure, the Conference Hall represents an investment in people, knowledge and possibilities. A school is not defined merely by its classrooms and buildings; it grows through conversations, ideas, learning opportunities and the confidence it creates among its students and teachers. The new facility is intended to provide precisely such a space.

For teachers, it will create opportunities for professional development, peer learning, training and knowledge-sharing. For students, it can become a platform for exposure, interaction, creativity, public expression and participation—encouraging them to look beyond the conventional classroom and engage with a wider world of ideas and opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commanding Officer, 41 RR, appreciated the efforts of IIFL Foundation for extending its support towards strengthening the educational infrastructure of the school. He particularly lauded the Foundation’s contribution towards supporting the Indian Army in this noble endeavour of creating better educational opportunities and improved facilities for children in the region.

The Commanding Officer also appreciated the collaborative role of Kamraz Asian Aid International Foundation (KAAIF) in facilitating and implementing the initiative and bringing together different stakeholders around the shared objective of strengthening education and contributing to community development.

The school administration expressed its sincere gratitude to IIFL Foundation and KAAIF for their valuable support and contribution towards the establishment of the Conference Hall. The school expressed hope that the facility would evolve into a vibrant centre for academic exchange, teacher development, student engagement and institutional learning.

The initiative is also a reflection of what can be achieved when the Indian Army, philanthropic institutions and civil society organisations come together around a common purpose. Such partnerships can help address community needs at the grassroots level while creating assets that have a lasting impact on institutions and the people they serve.

For the children of Hajipir Army Goodwill School-Trehgam, the Conference Hall is therefore much more than a new structure. It is a space to learn, to interact, to express, to discover and to dream. It is a space that can help turn opportunities into experiences and experiences into confidence.

The initiative stands as a testament to the belief that investing in education is ultimately an investment in people and in the future of communities. Through continued collaboration and shared commitment, such efforts can strengthen educational institutions, empower teachers, nurture young minds and contribute to building a more hopeful and empowered future for the region.
