New Delhi | November 12, 2025: Tamil Nadu’s Geographical Indications (GI) Nodal Officer represented the state at the Tribal Business Conclave 2025, held at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, showcasing the rich cultural and entrepreneurial strength of India’s tribal communities.
Organized jointly by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the conclave brought together over 250 tribal enterprises and 150 exhibitors from across the country. The event celebrated tribal innovation, art, and entrepreneurship under the broader theme of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, marking the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda.
Representing Tamil Nadu, the GI Nodal Officer highlighted the state’s efforts in promoting Geographical Indications (GIs) as tools of empowerment for indigenous and tribal artisans. The presentation showcased how GI tags for products like Toda embroidery, Kanyakumari mats, and Madurai jasmine have enhanced recognition, ensured fair pricing, and protected traditional knowledge systems.
The Ministry of Culture’s participation underscored the importance of linking heritage with livelihood, ensuring that tribal art, literature, and craftsmanship gain visibility in both national and global markets. Cultural exhibits at the conclave displayed intricate tribal artworks, literary traditions, and live craft demonstrations, bridging tradition with innovation.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting tribal products through international market linkages and e-commerce platforms. “We aim to make tribal art and enterprise a symbol of India’s creative economy,” he said during the conclave.
The Tribal Business Conclave 2025 served as a vital platform for collaboration among tribal entrepreneurs, policymakers, and investors, advancing the government’s vision of inclusive growth through cultural and creative economies.
